Position Description: Camp Counselors provide leadership, supervision, and safety for small groups of children participating in indoor and outdoor activities. Programs may focus on nature, farm life, science, outdoor recreation, and handson skill building.
Additional Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Lead and supervise groups of 1040 children ages 416.
- Deliver and assist with nature exploration, science experiments, pond dipping, survival skills, art, camp games.
- Assist with farm-related programs and handson agricultural activities.
- Assist with canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, fishing, archery, and power boating as appropriate.
- Present themed lessons in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Maintain records including attendance and parent signin/signout forms.
- Supervise lunchtime and transitions.
- Lead offsite field trips.
- Support Youth Volunteers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Prior experience working with children preferred.
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of Ohio's natural and cultural history.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Comfort speaking in front of small and large groups.
- Ability to engage children and foster enthusiasm for nature and science.
- Ability to oversee children in grades 18.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work a variable schedule up to 40 hours/week, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license and insurability under agency policy.
- Successful completion of a preemployment background check.
