The Senior Architect Healthcare Specialist leads the design and delivery of healthcare projects, integrating architectural excellence with specialized medical planning and medical equipment coordination.
This role is responsible for overseeing projects from concept through construction, while ensuring healthcare facilities are functional, compliant with international standards, and aligned with clinical workflows.
The position combines leadership in architectural design with deep expertise in hospital planning, stakeholder engagement, and medical equipment integration.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership and Planning
- Lead project teams in understanding client briefs, healthcare requirements, and project constraints.
- Define project scope, stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables in coordination with the Design Director and project teams.
- Oversee regulatory compliance including building codes, zoning, and healthcare specific requirements.
- Prepare and contribute to project proposals, including scope, deliverables, and resource planning.
2. Architectural Design and Documentation
- Lead the development of architectural designs across all stages using BIM tools such as Revit.
- Oversee production of plans, sections, elevations, and technical documentation.
- Ensure design quality, accuracy, and alignment with project goals and company standards.
- Conduct site visits to review progress and ensure design intent is achieved.
- Lead internal design reviews and mentor junior architects and designers.
3. Medical Planning and Healthcare Design
- Lead medical planning and medical equipment planning in coordination with architecture, interior design, and MEP teams.
- Plan clinical and non clinical areas to ensure efficient workflows, patient safety, and operational effectiveness.
- Develop medical equipment strategies including equipment lists and layouts
- Review integration of medical equipment infrastructure including power, HVAC, medical gases, and structural requirements.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
4. Clinical Department Planning
- Plan and coordinate key departments including, e.g.: OR; Cat Lab; ICU, CCU; ER, Imaging, Endoscopy, Oncology, Hemodialysis, Women's Clinic, Maternity, IVF, Lab, Pharmacy and CSSD, etc
- Collaborate with medical users to validate workflows, circulation, and functional layouts.
5. Stakeholder Coordination and User Engagement
- Lead User Group Meetings with hospital management and clinical teams.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and medical equipment suppliers to align requirements.
- Translate clinical and operational needs into design solutions and technical documentation.
- Present design concepts clearly and manage client feedback effectively.
6. Project Coordination and Management
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, MEP, and other consultants.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with project managers.
- Lead project meetings and track key decisions and action items.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and material submissions for compliance.
7. Documentation and Deliverables
- Oversee preparation of healthcare planning documentation including:
- Room Data Sheets, C Sheets, Medical Equipment Schedules, Area Programs, Adjacency and Functional Diagrams
- Ensure all deliverables are accurate and aligned with design stages.
8. Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and healthcare design requirements.
- Conduct quality reviews of drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Identify risks and provide proactive design solutions.
9. AI Integration and Innovation
- Drive the adoption of AI tools within design workflows.
- Utilize AI and generative tools to support design exploration, documentation, and efficiency.
- Guide and mentor team members on effective use of AI technologies.
10. Communication and Professional Development
- Provide regular updates to the Design Director and stakeholders.
- Support business development and marketing with project inputs.
- Lead team coordination and mentor junior staff.
- Engage in continuous professional development, stay updated on healthcare and design trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture
- Qualification in Healthcare Planning or related fields is preferred.
- Thai and English language capability, spoken and written, is a prerequisite for this position.
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of professional experience, with strong experience in healthcare projects.
- Proven experience leading architectural projects from concept to construction.
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, clinical workflows, and medical equipment planning.
- Proficiency in BIM and Revit.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to integrate new technologies including AI tools into workflows.
- Preferred experience with international healthcare standards such as JCI, HTM, or FGI guidelines.
