We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to design and build high-performance systems that power institutional-grade blockchain and DeFi applications.
You are a builder at heart who thrives on solving complex distributed systems challenges and transforming ideas into scalable, reliable infrastructure. You have a deep understanding of software engineering principles and fluency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, Rust, C#, or Java).
You care deeply about writing clean, maintainable code, designing for performance and enterprise-level security, and building systems that scale gracefully under real-world conditions.
This is a remote-first role, working with a globally distributed team of engineers and researchers, and in close collaboration with leading financial institutions and blockchain ecosystem partners.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain institutional-grade financial services backend systems and APIs that are efficient, secure, and scalable.
- Architect distributed systems that integrate blockchain data, financial logic, and external services with strong guarantees of reliability and correctness.
- Build high-throughput data pipelines and services that interact with on-chain infrastructure and blockchain protocols like DeFi.
- Continuously optimize systems for speed, scalability, and resilience, using data-driven insights and monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, blockchain engineers, researchers, and product leads, to deliver institutional-grade solutions.
Skills:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a solid grasp of design patterns, testing strategies, and best practices.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of: Go, Python, Rust, C#, Java, or TypeScript/Node.js.
- Deep experience with databases, both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, Redis), including schema design and performance tuning.
- Proven ability to design, scale, and maintain distributed systems from initial architecture through production operations.
- Solid understanding of API design, system observability, and performance optimization at scale.
- Working knowledge of containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Background in large-scale financial or blockchain systems and organizations (Hedge Funds, FinTech, Asset Management, or Payments), with exposure to compliance, security, and data-sensitivity requirements.
- Understanding of financial markets and products, including market structure, trading workflows, and risk considerations
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with on-chain/off-chain integrations, blockchain data indexing, or DeFi protocols.
- Experience with data pipelines, AI/ML-driven systems, or event-driven architectures.
- Contributions to open-source projects, cloud-native systems, or technical leadership in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Understanding of cryptographic concepts or zero-knowledge technologies is a plus.
