Snapmint is looking for a highly hands-on Senior Backend Engineer (SDE III) who enjoys writing production code while driving the architecture of complex backend systems. This role is suited for engineers who thrive in solving non-trivial technical challenges, designing scalable systems, and building high-performance services that power a rapidly growing fintech platform. You will influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and take ownership of critical backend components.
Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale backend systems and distributed services.
- Drive architecture decisions that impact multiple engineering teams.
- Write high-quality production code and actively contribute to core backend components.
- Design fault-tolerant, scalable, and high-throughput services.
- Lead system design reviews and enforce engineering best practices.
- Identify technical debt and drive long-term platform improvements.
- Mentor engineers and elevate the overall engineering quality of the team.
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data teams to build a scalable system.
Requirements
- 8-10 years of backend development experience.
- Strong programming expertise in Node.js (preferred) or another modern backend language.
- Experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience building event-driven or asynchronous architectures.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience building systems on cloud infrastructure.
- Strong experience with microservices architecture and API design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of performance optimisation and scalability patterns.
- Experience designing low-latency or high-throughput services.
- Prior experience in a high-growth product company.
- Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
