Job Description

About The Role

The Senior Business Operations Specialist is responsible for turning business ideas and requirements into clear, practical and sustainable ways of working.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role works across Commercial, Finance, Product, Technology and Operations to make sure new initiatives are properly planned, launched and moved into business-as-usual operations.

This is an individual-contributor role for someone who can understand how the business works, identify what is missing, coordinate different teams and solve operational problems.

What You'll Do

  • Work with the COO, Management and Commercial teams to understand what the business wants to launch, change or improve.
  • Determine what processes, systems, controls, resources and reporting are needed to make each initiative work.
  • Turn business ideas into a clear action plan, including what needs to be done, who is responsible and when it should be completed.
  • Coordinate with different departments and follow up until all agreed actions are completed.
  • Support new initiatives from the planning and testing stages through to launch.
  • Make sure new initiatives can eventually run as part of normal day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor progress, performance, risks, delays and outstanding matters.
  • Investigate repeated problems and identify the root cause instead of only fixing the immediate issue.
  • Improve processes that are manual, slow, unclear or inefficient.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, digitise or automate work.
  • Explain operational needs clearly to Product or Technology teams when system improvements are required.
  • Prepare clear updates for the COO on progress, issues, risks, next steps and decisions required.
  • Use AI, no-code or other suitable tools to build simple internal tools and workflow automations.
  • Document processes, responsibilities and standard operating procedures so that work does not depend on one person.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least five years of experience in business operations, project management, process improvement or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of how business requirements are translated into practical processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project-management skills.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional projects and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with operational data, dashboards and performance reports.
  • Proficient in using AI, no-code or similar tools for research, analysis, documentation, workflow automation and simple internal tool development.
  • Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

What Sets You Apart

  • You understand how business decisions affect day-to-day operations.
  • You can turn unclear ideas into clear and practical action plans.
  • You look for the root cause instead of repeatedly fixing the same issue.
  • You are comfortable challenging inefficient ways of working.
  • You use data to identify problems and measure results.
  • You can turn operational needs into simple tools, workflows and automations.
  • You actively use AI to improve the speed and quality of your work.
  • You can coordinate different stakeholders without relying on formal authority.
  • You take ownership and follow through until the intended outcome is achieved.
  • You can balance proper operational controls with the need to support business growth.
