Job Description

The Senior Cost & Finance Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing cost accounting, financial reporting, and budgetary control functions within the manufacturing environment. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains compliance with applicable accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent serves as a key business partner to plant operations, providing detailed cost analysis and financial insights to drive operational efficiency and profitability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Cost Accounting & Analysis

Maintain and manage the standard costing system, including material, labor, and overhead cost structures.

Perform monthly product cost analysis, variance analysis (price, usage, volume, and efficiency variances), and cost of goods manufactured (COGM) reconciliation.

Analyze manufacturing overhead absorption and investigate significant variances against budget and forecast.

Monitor and review raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory valuation; ensure accuracy of inventory records in the ERP system.

Conduct periodic inventory cycle counts and year-end physical inventory audits; reconcile discrepancies and report findings.

Prepare and analyze cost per unit reports, production efficiency reports, and scrap/waste analysis.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Thai Financial Reporting Standards (TFRS) and Group reporting requirements.

Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations.

Prepare financial management reports, KPI dashboards, and cost performance summaries for senior management.

Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial reporting packages as required by Group Finance.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Support the annual budgeting and rolling forecast process, including preparation of cost assumptions, headcount plans, and operational budgets.

Monitor actual expenditure against budget; prepare budget variance reports and provide explanations and corrective action recommendations.

Coordinate with department heads and plant managers to ensure budget accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and control frameworks.

Liaise with internal and external auditors; prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documentation as required.

Ensure compliance with the Revenue Department requirements, including corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding tax regulations.

Support the implementation and maintenance of internal control systems to safeguard company assets.

Ad Hoc & Other Duties

Provide financial analysis and project support for capital expenditure (CAPEX) evaluations and business case development.

Perform ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager

Support and mentor junior accounting staff in cost accounting principles and financial reporting practices.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in cost accounting and financial reporting.

Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and variance analysis.

Proficiency in TFRS and Thai tax regulations (corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax).

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

Experience with financial reporting consolidation and management reporting.

High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills in both Thai and English (written and verbal).

Collaborative and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
