As Ascend Money embarks on its Virtual Banking journey, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our mission-critical databases. This role will manage both on-premise and cloud-based databases, support high-availability environments, and contribute to a secure, resilient, and innovative banking platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain enterprise databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) in production and non-production environments.
- Implement and support high-availability (HA) solutions such as Oracle RAC, AlwaysOn, and MySQL clustering.
- Perform patching, upgrades, and backups while ensuring compliance and minimal downtime.
- Support database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Manage and support cloud-based databases on AWS, including automation where possible.
- Develop and maintain scripts (Shell, Python, etc.) for automation of database tasks.
- Configure and operate monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Oracle EM, Grafana, Prometheus).
- Ensure data security and compliance with banking regulations and ISO standards.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver reliable services.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide timely incident response and resolution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 45+ years of experience as a DBA, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Hands-on experience with Linux OS.
- Proven experience with HA solutions, patching, and upgrades for Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL.
- Basic knowledge of performance tuning for Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, GitHub is a plus.
- Knowledge of Oracle RAC preferred.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle EM, Grafana).
- Good communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
- Strong interest in learning new technologies; AI/ML exposure is a plus.
- Flexible to work in on-call shifts as required.
