Job Description

As a Failure Analysis Engineer, you will play a critical role in providing value-added services to operational units by investigating and resolving failures in electronic components and systems.

Your Role

Key responsibilities in your new role

  • Investigating Failures: Analyze root causes of failures in electronic components or systems to identify underlying issues.
  • Testing and Characterization: Conduct various tests and experiments to characterize failure modes and understand faulty component behavior.
  • Root Cause Identification: Use techniques such as fault isolation, microscopy, and analytical tools to pinpoint failure causes.
  • Report Generation: Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, including root causes, impacts, and preventive measures.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work with design, development, process, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve failure issues.
  • Failure Trend Analysis: Proactively identify and address emerging issues by analyzing failure trends.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest failure analysis techniques and tools through training and self-study.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support to address customer concerns and offer solutions to mitigate future failures.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure processes comply with industry standards and contribute to the development of best practices.
  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning within the organization.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess risks associated with failure modes and mitigate them through appropriate actions.
  • Cross-functional Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including management, engineers, and suppliers.

Your Profile

Qualifications And Skills To Help You Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree, master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in failure analysis, the semiconductor industry, electronic manufacturing, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis techniques and tools, including microscopy and fault isolation.
  • Experience in conducting tests and experiments to characterize failure modes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of failures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
