Senior Engineer, Slider Process Technology Development - Bar mounting Tooling design and Development

About our group:

Our team at the Seagate Korat Slider Factory is dedicated to advancing mechanical process development for next-generation data storage technologies. We are looking for a Senior Engineer with deep expertise in tooling design to lead the development of high-precision, high-reliability tooling solutions that support automation and process innovation across the slider manufacturing line.

About the role - you will:

• Lead the design, development, and validation of custom tooling for slider manufacturing processes, including bar mounting, slicing, lapping, and inspection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define tooling requirements based on product design, material properties, and process constraints.
• Drive continuous improvement in tooling performance, focusing on durability, precision, and ease of integration with automated systems.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing tooling solutions that meet evolving design and process needs.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling-related issues in production.
• Manage tooling design documentation, CAD models, and revision control in accordance with engineering standards.
• Work closely with suppliers and internal machine shops to ensure timely fabrication and quality of tooling components.

About you:

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Strong background in precision tooling design, with hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) and familiarity with GD&T and mechanical tolerancing.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Your experience includes:

• Knowledge of tooling materials, coatings, and wear mechanisms.
• Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFMEA methodologies.
• Familiarity with automation integration, including fixture design for robotic handling or machine interfaces.
• Understanding of slider manufacturing processes is a strong advantage.
