Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (Server & Virtualization)

About our group:

We are part of the Global IT Infrastructure team, supporting enterprise server infrastructure, data center operations, virtualization platforms, procurement coordination, and infrastructure lifecycle management across global business operations.

Our team partners with engineering teams, application owners, procurement, facilities, finance, and technology vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. We support the full lifecycle of server and data center infrastructure-from technical design and procurement through deployment, operation, modernization, and continuous improvement.

About the role - you will:

• Define and coordinate server infrastructure requirements, including CPU, memory, storage, network connectivity, and platform sizing based on business and application needs.
• Develop and maintain technical hardware specifications for server, storage, and infrastructure-related procurements.
• Work closely with global IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to identify optimal infrastructure solutions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Serve as a technical liaison between Seagate and external technology partners, supporting solution evaluation, quotation reviews, technical assessments, and procurement activities.
• Coordinate infrastructure purchasing processes including PR/PO preparation, vendor engagement, quotation comparison, asset acquisition tracking, and documentation management.
• Support enterprise virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Citrix XenServer environments.
• Support Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including deployment planning, lifecycle management, configuration validation, and operational support.
• Provide hands-and-eyes data center support including rack-and-stack activities, cabling, hardware installation, equipment relocation, troubleshooting, inventory validation, and vendor coordination.
• Coordinate with facilities teams and service providers to ensure power, cooling, rack capacity, cabling, and installation requirements are met.
• Maintain lifecycle documentation including bills of materials, asset inventories, technical standards, deployment records, and infrastructure procedures.
• Participate in infrastructure modernization, automation, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate opportunities to optimize infrastructure cost, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service reliability.

About you:

• Have strong knowledge of enterprise server infrastructure, data center operations, and hardware lifecycle management.
• Possess working knowledge of virtualization platforms including VMware and Citrix XenServer.
• Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Understand server hardware architectures, storage systems, networking fundamentals, and data center operational best practices.
• Possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Are capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate effective communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical organizations.
• Are self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently within a global team environment.
• Have strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Hold a bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.

Your experience includes:

Required

• Experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure and data center operations.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and/or Citrix XenServer administration or operational support.
• Experience supporting Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Experience working with hardware vendors, procurement processes, quotations, or asset lifecycle management.
• Experience coordinating technical projects and working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience maintaining technical and operational documentation.

Preferred

• Experience supporting global IT infrastructure environments.
• Experience with enterprise storage, networking, and backup platforms.
• Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
• Experience with infrastructure deployment, migration, and refresh projects.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies and DevOps practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, GitLab CI/CD, or related platforms.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure and hybrid computing environments.
