Role Purpose
The Senior Manager will lead Embedded Value (EV) and Free Surplus Generation (FSG) reporting, with primary focus on financial analysis and strategic execution. This role will oversee end‑to‑end reporting processes and provide high‑quality insights on analysis of financial movements and experience variances. The position requires a strategic leader who can drive transformation, strengthen governance control and cultivate talent within the team. This role will work closely with Group Finance/Actuarial, local CFO/CA office and external auditors.
Key Accountabilities
Sustainability & Scalability of Reporting Processes
- Strategic Oversight: Define the long‑term roadmap for EV and FSG reporting aligned with the team's vision. Oversee execution, resource planning, and prioritization of deliverables.
- Process Ownership: Lead end‑to‑end EV and FSG reporting cycles, including assumptions, methodology, analysis of movement, variance investigations, and management insights.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Act as the key liaison with Group Finance/Actuarial, local CFO/CA office and external auditors.
- Communicate financial results and their drivers as well as business insights to senior management with clarity and confidence.
- Influence decision‑making through robust financial and actuarial analysis.
Governance, Controls & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with Group standards, local policies, regulatory requirements, and SOX controls.
- Ensure audit readiness with comprehensive process controls and clear documentation support.
Innovation, Automation & Transformation
- Develop and execute roadmap on process improvements such as automations to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of actuarial reporting.
- Design and lead technical initiatives that enhance the company's financial position and optimize capital/free surplus outcomes.
- Champion a culture of innovation within reporting team.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team with strong technical and analytical capabilities.
- Develop successors who are capable of managing senior stakeholders and handling complex reporting tasks independently.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and professional growth.
Minimum Requirements
Technical & Professional Skills
- Expert knowledge of actuarial valuation frameworks, particularly EV, Free Surplus, cashflow analysis and actuarial reporting processes.
- Strong understanding of life insurance products, experience studies, assumption setting and sensitivity / scenario analysis.
- Proven ability to translate complex actuarial results into clear business insights.
- Strong project management capabilities, with demonstrated success in leading multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership with people management experience.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and drive transformation initiatives.
Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in actuarial valuation: EV, IFRS / Local statutory reporting, or related actuarial areas.
- At least 2–3 years in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing reporting processes and stakeholder management.
- Progress toward actuarial fellowship is preferred.
