Job Purpose
The Senior Manager - Plant Pathologist will lead plant health management across Gamlaa Bioscapes nursery, warehouse, project, and client-maintenance environments by identifying, preventing, and controlling plant diseases affecting ornamental plants, indoor greens, landscape species, and related plant material. The role will be responsible for disease diagnosis, surveillance, treatment protocols, plant health audits, team capability building, and continuous improvement in plant quality and survival performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the identification, diagnosis, and management of plant diseases caused by fungal, bacterial, viral, nematode, and environmental factors.
- Develop and implement plant disease prevention and control protocols across nurseries, holding areas, warehouses, project sites, and maintenance locations.
- Conduct regular plant health inspections and disease surveillance to identify early signs of infection, spread, or stress-related decline.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions including sanitation, quarantine, treatment schedules, nutrient correction, irrigation adjustments, and environmental control measures.
- Support the nursery and operations teams in maintaining healthy plant stock for projects, client installations, and ongoing maintenance contracts.
- Establish SOPs for disease sampling, testing, reporting, treatment tracking, and plant health record management.
- Coordinate with horticulture, procurement, quality, warehouse, and maintenance teams to reduce disease risk during sourcing, storage, transport, installation, and upkeep.
- Analyze recurring plant health issues and recommend long-term improvements in species selection, growing conditions, storage practices, and maintenance protocols.
- Guide the safe and effective use of fungicides, bactericides, bio-controls, and plant health inputs in line with approved practices and compliance requirements.
- Train site teams, maintenance teams, and nursery staff on disease symptoms, handling practices, hygiene standards, and escalation protocols.
- Maintain disease logs, treatment records, root-cause analyses, and management reports for leadership review.
- Work with external labs, agronomists, universities, or technical consultants when advanced diagnosis or specialized testing is required.
- Support product quality, client satisfaction, and plant survival rates through proactive plant health management across all operating locations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Protection, Horticulture, Botany, Agriculture, or a related field preferred; a bachelor's degree with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
- 6+ years of experience in plant pathology, nursery plant health, ornamental plant care, greenhouse growing, landscape plant health, or allied agricultural sciences.
- Strong understanding of plant diseases, diagnostics, disease cycles, environmental stress factors, and treatment methods.
- Experience working with ornamental plants, nursery systems, landscape plants, or urban horticulture environments will be highly relevant.
- Ability to combine scientific diagnosis with practical, field-level problem solving across multiple teams and locations.
