About the role

Sygnum's Platform team builds and operates the cloud foundation that every product engineering team ship on: the AWS landing zone, our Kubernetes platform, and the shared services (API gateway, event streaming, secrets, observability, delivery) that turn raw cloud into a product-ready runway. We're a small team with a large surface area, and we run a regulated fintech environment where every change is auditable.

We're hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to help evolve that platform — pushing the developer experience forward while keeping reliability, security, and cost under control. You'll split your time roughly between building (new platform capabilities, module work, self-service tooling) and running (upgrades, on-call, incident response, hardening).

What you'll do

• Design and ship improvements to our AWS multi-account landing zone and shared networking / IAM baselines, all through Terraform and a PR-driven plan/apply workflow — no click-ops in production.
• Operate and evolve our managed Kubernetes platform: cluster lifecycle, workload identity, autoscaling, node image hardening, and GitOps-based delivery.
• Own or co-own shared platform services: API gateway, event streaming, service mesh, certificates, secrets management, and the metrics/traces/SLO stack.
• Improve the paved road for product teams — templates, modules, guardrails, and self-service — so the safe path is also the easy path.
• Participate in the platform on-call rotation, lead incident response when needed, and drive blameless postmortems that actually change how the system behaves.
• Contribute to our reliability posture: SLO tiers, backup and DR readiness, and security baselines (encryption, TLS, least-privilege IAM).
• Keep changes auditable and release-disciplined — we operate in a regulated environment, and infrastructure changes must remain traceable.

Our ideal candidate

Must-have:

• 5+ years in Platform / SRE / DevOps roles with production ownership of cloud infrastructure at meaningful scale.
• Deep AWS hands-on experience: IAM, VPC and networking, and managed Kubernetes (EKS or equivalent).
• Terraform in production, with a PR/plan-review workflow (Atlantis, Terragrunt, or similar).
• Solid Kubernetes operational chops: troubleshooting real workloads, autoscaling, GitOps delivery.
• Comfortable on an on-call rotation and leading incident response under pressure.
• Clear written communication — runbooks, postmortems, and design notes that other teams can actually use.

Nice-to-have:

• Regulated-industry experience (banking, fintech, healthcare) with audit and change-control constraints.
• Familiarity with any of: API gateways (Kong or similar), event streaming (Kafka/MSK), service mesh (Istio/Envoy).
• Exposure to a secondary cloud (Azure/GCP) or multi-cloud operations.
• Contributions to internal developer platforms, shared Terraform modules, or open-source infrastructure tooling.
