The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of specific business strategies by contributing to business development and growth through cultivating relationships with designated clients and making informed underwriting decisions to enhance the profitability of the portfolio. Key responsibilities involve generating new business, retaining renewals, and ensuring the overall profitability of a specific designated book of business within our Specialty insurance vertical

The Opportunity:

The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of specific business strategies by contributing to business development and growth through cultivating relationships with designated clients and making informed underwriting decisions to enhance the profitability of the portfolio. Key responsibilities involve generating new business, retaining renewals, and ensuring the overall profitability of a specific designated book of business within our Specialty insurance vertical.

Your New Role:

  • Underwrite new business and renewals in accordance with organisational underwriting policies, authorities, and standards.
  • Provide timely, commercially sound underwriting decisions and practical problem-solving solutions to support customers and intermediaries.
  • Support the achievement of underwriting and broader business unit operational objectives through effective portfolio management and risk selection.
  • Ensure all underwriting files and documentation are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders to support profitable growth and service excellence.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of pricing strategies, including differentiation by geographic location.
  • Review, monitor, and enhance underwriting procedures, standards, and checklists to ensure consistency and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including self-insurance and alternative risk transfer prospects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, commission structures, and market developments to strengthen intermediary engagement and distribution effectiveness.

About You:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
