The SUIT (Sourcing Unit Innovations and Technology) Engineer Support Specialist serves as the operational backbone to the SUIT Engineer, ensuring seamless execution of manufacturing processes, comprehensive documentation, and adherence to project deliverables. This role focuses on the tactical implementation and monitoring of NPD initiatives while maintaining rigorous documentation standards that support our manufacturing excellence journey.
The Support Specialist acts as the bridge between engineering design and operational execution, ensuring that all processes are properly documented, tracked, and continuously improved. This position is essential for maintaining process stability and supporting our world-class journey to zero defects, zero waste, and zero losses.
Key Deliverables
New Product Launch Support
- Coordinate pre-production trials and scale-up
- Support validation protocols
- Track launch readiness and gate approvals
- Monitor stabilization period metrics
Safety Management & Compliance
- Safety risk assessments for new processes
- HAZOP documentation support
- Safety training material development
- Safety KPI tracking
Cost & Productivity Management
- Cost tracking vs. budget for NPD
- OEE and line efficiency monitoring
- Waste cost quantification
Process Documentation & Standardization
- Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation for all manufacturing processes
- Create and manage standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Ensure process documentation is current, accessible, and properly version controlled
- Document lessons learned and best practices from project implementations
- Process Work standard of NPD
- Create process Production version by SAP
Project Execution Support
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines in coordination with the SUIT Engineer
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met
- Monitor project budgets and resource allocation
- Prepare project status reports and presentations for management review
- Generate PO process by COUPA
Process Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to established standards (ie. MOC, Qualification Reports)
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational excellence metrics
- Track waste reduction initiatives and loss minimization efforts
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Continuous Improvement Support
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements
- Support Unilever Manufacturing Systems initiatives using AM, PM, FI, Q, EPM and EEM methodologies
- Document and track improvement initiatives and their outcomes
- Assist in root cause analysis activities and implementation of countermeasures
Performance Metrics
- Process documentation accuracy and completeness (95%+ target)
- Project milestone achievement rate (on-time delivery targets)
- Training completion rates and effectiveness scores
- Process compliance audit scores
- Waste reduction and loss minimization contributions
- Documentation turnaround time for process changes
Key Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical field
- 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or technical documentation
- FMCG or similar manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in documentation software (MS Office Suite, Visio, CAD systems)
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance requirements
- Familiarity with statistical process control and data analysis tools
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience in training development and delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Unilever Manufacturing System (UMS) principles and tools
- Understanding of Ice Cream Manufacturing Operations
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Experience in change management and process standardization
Working Relationships
- Primary Partnership: Works closely with SUIT Engineer to ensure seamless project execution
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Interfaces with R&D, production teams, quality assurance, maintenance, and operations
- External Coordination: May interact with contractors and vendors for documentation and compliance purposes
- Training Support: Works with HR and training departments to deliver technical education
