OVERVIEW - PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Southeast Asia Editor is a senior editorial role combining daily news reporting, analysis and features with responsibility for key editorial projects across Campaign Asia-Pacific's platforms and events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Editorial output
The Southeast Asia Editor will contribute editorial content across Campaign Asia-Pacific's platforms, including website, newsletters, social media, video, audio and live events. The role will be expected to:
. Build and maintain an extensive network of senior contacts across advertising, marketing, media, technology and communications in Asia-Pacific with a focus on Southeast Asia.
. Work with the Editor to develop and publish at least five pieces of editorial content each week across Campaign's platforms.
. Deliver at least six lead, exclusive, analytical or substantial feature stories each month, driven by original reporting, interviews, data or industry insight and take on reporting assignments as required by the Editor or Editorial Director.
. Generate and pitch story ideas during daily and weekly editorial meetings and contribute to forward planning.
. Be industry facing and maintain a network of senior marketers, agency executives and other industry sources to develop relationships, generate leads and deepen Campaign's market intelligence.
. Attend and host or moderate roundtables, panels, interviews at Campaign's events or as required by the business.
. Report from both Haymarket-owned and external industry events, identifying news, interviews, analysis and follow-up stories rather than treating attendance solely as a networking function.
. Own and manage assigned editorial projects from planning through publication, including establishing timelines, coordinating contributors, conducting reporting and research, commissioning where required, and ensuring deadlines and editorial standards are met.
. Lead and make substantial contributions to Campaign Asia-Pacific's major editorial franchises and special projects, including Agency Performance Review, Power List, consumer research and other annual or bespoke projects.
. Contribute to recognition programmes including Women to Watch, 40 Under 40 and others via judging, write-ups and other editorial requirements.
. As a senior member of the editorial team, the Southeast Asia Editor will also be expected to edit and provide constructive feedback on colleagues work when required, helping maintain Campaign's editorial standards.
. Use audience and engagement data to understand the performance of coverage and inform future editorial decisions.
KEY SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE
. Strong news judgement and a demonstrable hunger for original journalism.
. At least 8-10 years of newsroom experience with proven reporting, interviewing, writing and editing skills.
. Strong understanding of the advertising, marketing, media and communications industries.
. Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to balance daily deadlines with longer-term reporting and projects. Good project management skills.
