Job Description

Job summary.

To oversee the Bank's operational risk management and drive strategic initiatives assigned by senior management, covering risk frameworks, policies, and standards. The role requires strong expertise in operational risk while maintaining awareness of technology-related risks to ensure risk management practices are holistic and aligned with the Bank's evolving risk landscape.

Job description:

  • Initiate and execute strategic projects related to corporate operational risk management as assigned by senior management, including risk strategy, frameworks, policies, and standard procedures to effectively mitigate risks.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Operational Risk Management (ORM), while applying awareness of technology-related risks to ensure risk assessments remain comprehensive and relevant in a digital environment.
  • Assist Head of ORM in developing, enhancing, and communicating:
  • Operational Risk Management Framework
  • Risk Appetite Statement
  • ORM policies and minimum standards
  • ensuring that technology-related risk considerations are appropriately reflected where relevant.
  • Prepare and maintain end-to-end ORM procedures, manuals, and training materials, incorporating practical risk scenarios including those arising from system, process, or digital environments.
  • Execute ORM initiatives, including new projects and ORM systems & tools, ensuring alignment with evolving business processes and increasing digitalization.

Perform risk monitoring across the Bank by:

  • Overseeing incident reporting & response processes (including system-related incidents where applicable)
  • Managing Key Control Testing (KCT), including controls embedded in automated or system-driven processes.
  • Acting as gatekeeper and performing Quality Assurance on control testing
  • Coordinate with CORM functions, BORMs, and relevant stakeholders such as IT Risk, Information Security, Legal, Finance, and Compliance to ensure the Bank's risk profile remains within defined risk appetite

Support and challenge BU/SU through ORM tools, including:

  • RCSA, KRI, KCT, Incident management, Action tracking
  • New product & outsourcing risk assessment
  • Project risk management by considering both operational and process-related risk implications, including those linked to technology usage.
  • Proactively identify and escalate operational risks, with due consideration of emerging risks driven by process changes, systems, or digital initiatives

Qualifications.

  • Master's degree in MBA, Risk Management, or related fields
  • 3–5 years of experience in Operational Risk, Internal Audit, or related fields within financial institutions
  • (Exposure to technology-related risk or system-driven processes will be an advantage)
  • Strong knowledge of Operational Risk Management frameworks and tools (RCSA, KRI, KCT, Incident Management)
  • Basic understanding or awareness of technology-related risks, such as system risk, cyber risk, or risks arising from digital processes, with the ability to incorporate such considerations into operational risk assessments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think holistically across business processes.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable to change, particularly in an increasingly digital operating environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal English), with the ability to work across business and support functions.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Project management experience is a plus.
