Company Overview

The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) is a government-to-government initiative promoting cooperation against piracy and armed robbery at sea. Established in Singapore, it serves 21 Contracting Parties across Asia, Europe, Australia, and the US.

Job Summary

Support the ReCAAP ISC by gathering and analyzing maritime piracy data, assisting in report drafting, coordinating meetings and events, and facilitating information sharing to enhance regional maritime security.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and collate information on maritime piracy and armed robbery incidents from Focal Points, partner agencies, and internet sources to ensure timely dissemination within the ISC
  • Analyze updates on maritime security and related developments to support informed decision-making
  • Assist in note-taking during ISC visits and projects to accurately document key discussions and outcomes
  • Consolidate briefing materials for the Executive Director on issues for dialogue with the Governing Council Chairman and other stakeholders
  • Draft regular and ad hoc reports on maritime security incidents and trends in collaboration with the Assistant Director (Research)
  • Clarify incident reports with Focal Points to ensure accuracy and completeness of information
  • Populate the Information Fusion Node (IFN) with historical incident data to maintain comprehensive records
  • Organize ISC events as directed by senior management to support stakeholder engagement and collaboration

Required competencies and certifications

  • Diploma from a recognised institution

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Fresh graduates with keen interest in data analysis and research
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications to support documentation and reporting tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  • Strong situational awareness to monitor and interpret maritime security developments
  • Ability to understand and analyze requirements and requests to deliver accurate outputs
  • Capacity to multi-task and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills to collaborate effectively within the ISC
