Job Overview

The Senior MES Engineer leads the design, implementation, and optimization of Manufacturing

Execution Systems (MES) to support complex manufacturing operations. This role provides

technical leadership across MES architecture, system integration, and production support, acting

as a key bridge between Manufacturing, Automation, and IT teams.

Job Requirements

MES Architecture & Leadership

  • Lead MES system design, configuration, and deployment across manufacturing lines or plants
  • Define MES architecture, data models, and integration standards
  • Review and approve MES functional specifications and technical designs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior MES engineers

Advanced Shop Floor Integration

  • Lead integration of MES with machines, PLCs, SCADA, vision systems, and test equipment
  • Define standards for machine connectivity, data collection, and validation
  • Collaborate closely with Automation and Controls teams to ensure robust OT integration

Enterprise & IT/OT Integration

  • Design and maintain interfaces between MES and ERP (e.g., SAP), WMS, QMS, LIMS
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability, genealogy, and data integrity
  • Support cybersecurity, access control, and compliance requirements

Production Support & Issue Resolution

  • Provide senior-level MES support during production and ramp-up phases
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring MES/system issues
  • Manage system changes, patches, upgrades, and release cycles with minimal production impact

Manufacturing Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive manufacturing KPIs through MES data (OEE, throughput, yield, downtime)
  • Enable advanced reporting, dashboards, and data analytics
  • Support continuous improvement, digitalization, and Smart Factory initiatives

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead MES-related projects from concept to production release
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (Manufacturing, IT, Quality, Planning)
  • Manage vendors, system integrators, and technology partners
  • Support global or multi-site MES deployment strategies

Documentation & Training

  • Establish MES standards, SOPs, and best practices
  • Review and approve technical documentation
  • Train engineers, key users, and production stakeholders

What Your Background Should Look Like

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related

field

  • Master's degree is a plus

Experience

  • 6–10+ years of experience in MES, Manufacturing Systems, or Smart Factory environments
  • Proven experience leading MES implementations in live production environments
