Scope of Work
The Sustainability Data Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management of sustainability and ESG data. The scope covers, but not limited to, data structure design, cleansing, transformation, validation, analysis, and visualization. This role supports internal strategic decision-making and external sustainability reporting by ensuring data accuracy, consistency, usability, traceability, and audit-readiness across the organization. The position also plays a key role in improving sustainability data processes through standardisation, documentation, and data governance practices, and acts as a key interface between data, business users, and sustainability stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Sustainability Data Management: Design and maintain sustainability data models, datasets, data definitions, ownership documentation, and change logs to support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.
- Data Collection & Integration: Coordinate with internal teams and relevant external stakeholders where applicable to collect, validate, and consolidate ESG data from multiple sources, ensuring consistent definitions and controlled data quality standards.
- Analytics & Insights: Analyze sustainability datasets using appropriate business intelligence and data analysis techniques to generate insights for decision-making, focusing on interpretation and practical implications.
- Data Tools & Support: Develop user-friendly data input tools and provide hands-on support to internal teams, ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to agreed data standards.
- Reporting & Visualization: Develop compelling dashboards and reports that translate complex data into clear, actionable visuals for both internal strategic decision-making and external reporting, tailored to different stakeholder groups.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Research and champion new technologies and industry best practices in sustainability data management, reporting efficiency, and data quality improvement, aligned with business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in business intelligence, data management, reporting, or analytics roles involving close interaction with business users.Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (such as Power BI or Tableau)
- Experience with programming languages (such as Python) and/or Structured Query Language (SQL) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB).
- English proficiency (TOEIC score > 750 or equivalent).
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
