Roles & Responsibilities
The Primary Teaching Assistant (TA) for DUCKS and Juniors supports high-quality learning and student wellbeing.
- Works under the direction of class teachers and year group leaders and reports directly to the Head of Primary.
- Upholds the school's values, safeguarding responsibilities, and inclusive culture.
- Is rooted in the Engaging Learning framework and supports children through responsive, inclusive, and engaging practice.
Key Responsibilities (Aligned to Engaging Learning)
Strand 1: Knowing the Child
- Build positive, respectful and trusting relationships with children, supporting their wellbeing, confidence and engagement in learning.
- Support children as individuals, recognising their interests, strengths, needs and stages of development.
- Work sensitively with children who require additional support, including EAL and Support for Learning, under the guidance of the teacher.
- Contribute to a nurturing classroom culture where children feel safe, valued and able to take risks in their learning.
- Support care routines and transitions in ways that promote independence, dignity and security.
- Work in partnership with teachers to ensure consistent support for children's learning and wellbeing.
Strand 2: Spaces for Learning
- Support the creation and maintenance of engaging, well-organised and inclusive indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Prepare and organise resources that encourage curiosity, independence and active learning.
- Support the use of open-ended materials and learning provocations as directed by the teacher.
- Help ensure learning environments are safe, accessible and inviting for all children.
- Contribute to displays and visible learning that reflect children's learning processes and celebrate progress.
- Support learning during lessons, play-based learning, outdoor learning, trips and special events.
Strand 3: Foundations for Learning
- Support high-quality interactions with children by listening, questioning and encouraging thinking and communication.
- Reinforce positive behaviour and learning dispositions in line with the school's values and expectations.
- Support child-initiated and teacher-guided learning activities as directed.
- Promote language development through meaningful interaction and modelling.
- Support the safe and responsible use of digital tools when required.
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety at all times.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in education or Bachelor of Arts with a major in Language.
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in an international school or working with children.
- Proficiency in both English and Thai.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.
- A positive, caring and flexible approach to supporting learning.
- Basic ICT competence to support learning in school.
