Build the Next Generation of AI Consumer Products

Yaru is seeking a Tech Lead AI Consumer Products to guide the architecture, development, and experimentation behind our AI-native products.

This role sits at the intersection of product development, engineering leadership, and education.

You will lead the technical direction of our AI-powered products while helping the entire Yaru team learn, document, and share what we discover as we build.

Unlike many traditional engineering roles, this position also contributes to education and storytelling. The lessons we learn from building real products become the foundation of Yaru's tutorials, livestreams, courses, and social media content.

You will help ensure our engineering team builds in publicdocumenting insights, sharing experiments, and teaching thousands of builders how to use AI tools effectively.

Role Overview

As Tech Lead, you will define the technical architecture for Yaru's product ecosystem while leading a small team of engineers building AI-powered consumer products.

You will collaborate closely with product, design, marketing, and content teams to transform ideas into real products and then turn those learnings into educational content.

This role requires someone comfortable leading technical development while actively sharing knowledge with the broader community.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Own the technical architecture and development strategy for Yaru's AI-powered products
• Lead engineering decisions around frameworks, infrastructure, and system design
• Break down product ideas into scalable technical implementations
• Ensure task breakdown and backlog management
• Lead architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Ensure high standards for performance, security, and reliability
• Mentor engineers and support their growth through technical guidance and code reviews

You will guide the technical direction of projects while mentoring developers and ensuring high-quality software delivery.

AI Product Development

• Lead development of AI-first consumer products and tools
• Rapidly prototype new product ideas using AI-native workflows
• Build systems using technologies such as:
• LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.)
• AI agents and automation frameworks
• vector databases and embeddings
• modern web frameworks (React, Next.js, etc.)
• Help establish AI-native development workflows across the engineering team
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI tools and integrate them into product pipelines

AI-Native Engineering Culture

You do not need deep AI experience coming into the role.

However, you must:

• Have experimented with AI tools
• Be excited to adopt AI-native workflows
• Be willing to continuously experiment with new AI tools

You will help the team transition toward:

• AI-assisted coding
• rapid prototyping with AI tools
• automated product pipelines
• AI-enhanced engineering workflows

Education & Knowledge Sharing

A core part of this role is helping Yaru teach the world how to build with AI.

You will:

• Create tutorials and technical guides explaining how we build products
• Document lessons learned from experiments, product launches, and failures
• Collaborate with the education team to turn engineering work into courses and content
• Contribute to livestreams, workshops, and technical demos when needed
• Help maintain clear documentation and playbooks for internal and external builders

Technical leaders often mentor developers and produce learning resources that help teams improve and share knowledge.

You will help:

• Turn product experiments into shareable insights
• Support teammates in creating content about what they are learning
• Collaborate with creators to translate engineering work into short-form content
• Contribute ideas, examples, and demonstrations for social media posts

Collaboration Across Teams

• Work closely with product, marketing, and education teams
• Translate business ideas into technical product roadmaps
• Help prioritize engineering tasks and remove blockers
• Support collaboration between engineers, creators, and educators

You will be the bridge between the technical team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful product execution.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers
• Experience building consumer-facing applications or SaaS products

Technical Skills

Experience with modern technologies such as:

• Node.js / Python / Typescript
• React / Next.js / Vue
• Go
• APIs and backend services
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Vercel, etc.)
• DevOps tools

AI Curiosity (Required)

You should:

• Have experimented with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.
• Be excited to explore how AI can accelerate development
• Be willing to adopt AI into your workflows and product pipelines

Communication Skills

• Near-native English proficiency (written and verbal)
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• Comfortable writing tutorials, guides, and documentation

Bonus Points (Nice to Have)

• Experience building AI-powered applications
• Familiarity with vector databases or AI pipelines
• Experience contributing to technical tutorials or open source
• Experience with developer education, DevRel, or technical content
• Startup experience building products from zero to launch
