Position Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced VP – PMO with a strong technical background in backend systems to lead enterprise-wide project delivery.
This role is not only responsible for project governance and execution but also requires the ability to deeply understand system architecture, backend development, and technical constraints to effectively drive complex technology projects.
You will act as a bridge between business and engineering teams, ensuring scalable, high-quality, and efficient delivery across all initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery with full accountability for project success across multiple initiatives
- Define project strategy, scope, timelines, budgets, and resource plans aligned with business and technical goals
- Drive PMO governance, frameworks, and standardization across projects
- Work closely with engineering teams, especially backend teams, to ensure technical feasibility and scalability
- Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, including technical risks related to backend systems and integrations
- Manage project budgets, vendor contracts, and external partners
- Lead and mentor multiple project managers, team leads, and cross-functional teams
- Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with business objectives and technical quality standards
- Report progress to senior leadership and escalate risks/issues proactively
- Continuously improve PMO processes, tools, and delivery methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 8–10+ years of experience in project management, with exposure to large-scale technology projects
- Strong background in backend development or backend system architecture (required)
- Proven experience working closely with engineering teams and understanding system design, APIs, integrations, and scalability
- Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional and technical teams
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong decision-making and stakeholder management skills
- Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, Microsoft Teams)
Technical Expectations (Must-Have)
- Solid understanding of backend technologies, system architecture, and data flow
- Experience with API design, microservices architecture, or distributed systems
- Ability to review technical approaches and challenge engineering decisions when necessary
- Strong understanding of system scalability, performance, and reliability
