Job Summary
The Technical Application Engineer acts as the technical link between customers, sales, and engineering teams. This role is responsible for providing technical support, preparing proposals and quotations, and recommending suitable pump and hydraulic solutions based on customer requirements. The position requires strong technical understanding combined with the ability to communicate solutions clearly in a B2B commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Application Support
- Evaluate customer requirements and operating conditions to recommend appropriate pump and hydraulic system solutions
- Analyse pump performance, system design, and applications to ensure optimal selection and efficiency
- Provide technical explanations, calculations, and system evaluations to customers
- Support troubleshooting and technical clarifications during pre- and post-sales stages
Proposals & Quotations
- Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and quotations in line with customer specifications
- Review technical drawings, datasheets, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing, lead times, and technical scope
Customer & Commercial Support
- Work closely with sales teams to support B2B and commercial customers
- Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations when required
- Build strong relationships with customers by providing timely and reliable technical solutions
- Support tender submissions and commercial negotiations from a technical standpoint
Product & Market Knowledge
- Maintain strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, pumps, and related applications
- Stay updated on product developments, industry standards, and market trends
Requirements
Technical
- Degree in Engineering or related field
- Solid knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, and system applications
- Ability to evaluate pump performance and system requirements
Experience
- 25 years of experience in a Technical Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, or similar role
- Experience in B2B or commercial/industrial environments
- Exposure to proposals, quotations, or tender documentation is an advantage
Skills
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Customer-focused with commercial awareness
