Position Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer acts as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them understand solution fit, integration patterns, deployment models, and modernization paths across complex, high-volume environments.
We seek an outstanding communicator with strong technical skills to present product capabilities & benefits at client meetings, and draft winning technical sales proposals.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with sales engineering teams to support customers and prospects for the NCR Voyix Commerce Platform, including Omni-commerce, Point of Sale, Loyalty software solutions, Analytics, and Store Transformation (including Self-service) within the assigned territory.
- Build and maintain relationships with sales engineering team members. Support technical product questions in a channel environment, with established peer-level relationship with partner sales engineers.
- Actively maintain technical knowledge across multiple products and solutions while developing more in-depth expertise in a specific area or solution specialization.
- Act professionally with high ethical standards, creating trust and confidence within the NCR Voyix team.
- Provide horizontal, end-to-end solution and architecture support with a focus around a pre-defined set of technical and business solutions.
- Support RFP/RFI responses with high-quality technical input, diagrams, and narratives.
- Assist in defining solution guidelines and solution requirements within retail customers.
- Understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
- Create, maintain and document technical solutions for the demonstration solutions in the assigned territory.
- Coordinate set-up of demos, trials, proofs-of-concepts working with the sales engineering team.
- Build relationships and partner actively with Sales Engineering, Software and Technology Engineering groups.
Technical/Business Knowledge:
- Relevant ICT industry experience and industry knowledge in the appropriate market segment(s).
- Have knowledge of relevant solutions sets, solution or related architecture specifications, performance criteria and applications.
- Clearly understand customer business requirements and the solution/technical solutions that are available or can be created to address those requirements.
- Understanding and conversant about technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses.
- Understanding of corporate Product Management, Software and Technology Engineering, Professional Services capabilities, and limitations.
Skills Required:
- Superior English written and verbal communication skills, negotiation, good listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively, adds value as a team member and collaborative fashion.
- Understand and has experience working with MACH architecture principles.
- Demonstrated superior technical knowledge and consultative skills, including a sound understanding of distributed architectures, cloud and containerization technologies, and virtualization.
- Experience with Languages/Tools: Golang Microservices; JPOS, JIRA/GIT Workflow; GitHub Actions; Docker; Kubernetes; Google Cloud Platform; Azure is beneficial
- Operating Systems: Linux and Windows
- Ability to understand business requirements and/or complex technical situations, with an ability to solve the problem or solicit the required resources.
- Ability to understand customer business requirements to map to capability with NCRV products and solutions.
Qualifications required:
- Preferred education BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent
- 3+ years in sales engineering, solution architecture, or technical consulting, preferably in POS, retail technology, or cloud/edge infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of hybrid-cloud architectures, virtualization, networking, containers, and zero-trust principles.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with ability to simplify complex topics for executives and technical audiences.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple enterprise initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience supporting large enterprise accounts with complex integrations and distributed operational models.
