Job Summary:
The Technology Risk & AI Governance Principal role provides independent second‑line oversight of the organization's use of AI, ensuring alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards. The role oversees technology and operational risk aspects of AI systems and provides risk‑based recommendations to the AI Council to support informed approval and ongoing use of AI solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Governance & Oversight – Provide independent risk challenge to ensure AI solutions comply with governance frameworks, policies, and standards, and coordinate AI Working Group activities and reviews.
- AI Risk Management – Identify, assess, and validate AI specific risks (for example model, data, and usage risks) and work with designated risk owners to ensure appropriate mitigation.
- IT Risk Oversight for AI Systems – Perform second line review and challenge of non AI IT risks associated with AI systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT risk frameworks and Group AI standards.
- AI Resilience and Continuity Oversight – Deliver independent risk oversight and challenge over AI related operational resilience, continuity, and recovery readiness for business-critical AI use cases.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Engage with 1st Line technology, data, and business teams to provide guidance on AI risk considerations and control expectations.
- Reporting & Escalation – Communicate AI risk posture, emerging risk themes, and escalate material issues to AI governance forums and senior management as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree is an advantage).
- 6–10 years of total work experience, with exposure to AI/ML, data analytics, or technology‑enabled solutions.
- Experience in risk management, governance, compliance, or oversight roles is preferred, particularly within regulated or complex environments.
- Sufficient understanding of AI lifecycle, technology risk, and operational risk concepts to provide effective second‑line challenge and oversight.
