About the role:

This role owns end-to-end merchandise buying decisions for ANTA Thailand, including seasonal buying in China, country merchandise budget control, and post-buy performance results.

The role is based in Thailand and is fully accountable for ensuring that buy decisions are commercially sound, aligned with brand merchandise principles, and executable in the Thailand market.

Responsibilities:

1. Merchandise Buy Ownership

  • Own seasonal and in-season merchandise buy decisions for ANTA Thailand.
  • Lead buying trips to China, including line review, SKU selection, depth decisions, and final buy confirmation.
  • Make trade-off decisions across categories, price points, and depth within approved country budget.

2. Budget & OTB Ownership

  • Own country merchandise budget and seasonal OTB planning at category level.
  • Balance sales targets, margin, stock, and markdown exposure through disciplined buy decisions.
  • Ensure buy plans are financially sound and aligned with business targets.

3. Pre-season Planning

  • Develop and maintain Merchandise Financial Plan (MFP) by category and season.
  • Align buy strategy with sales targets, margin expectations, and inventory objectives.
  • Identify risks and opportunities prior to buy and proactively adjust buy strategy.

4. In-season Performance Management

  • Monitor weekly and monthly sell-through, stock position, and markdown performance.
  • Evaluate buy accuracy and adjust future buy strategies based on performance insights.
  • Partner with retail and operations teams to ensure effective product flow and execution.

5. Brand Alignment & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with China brand merchandise stakeholders as a strategic partner.
  • Translate brand merchandise principles and product direction into locally optimized buy decisions.
  • Provide structured feedback on product performance and market response to brand teams.

6. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and VM teams to drive merchandise results.
  • Clearly communicate buy rationale, risks, and outcomes to GM and leadership team.
  • Act as the single merchandise decision owner for ANTA Thailand.

  • Direct report: Thailand General Manager
  • Functional collaboration: China Brand Merchandise Team

Requirements:

1. Experience

  • Minimum 810 years of experience in merchandise buying or category management within sportswear, apparel, or footwear brands.
  • Proven experience owning buy decisions, not only planning or execution.
  • Experience with international or regional buying (China showroom / HQ buying preferred).

2. Capabilities

  • Strong merchandise judgment with commercial and financial acumen.
  • Ability to make independent buy decisions under budget constraints.
  • Comfortable challenging product direction with data and market logic.
  • Strong analytical mindset with hands-on buy experience.

3. Language

  • Fluent working proficiency in English is mandatory (buy meetings, showroom reviews, and cross-border communication).

4. Personal Attributes

  • Strong ownership mindset and accountability for results.
  • Confident decision-maker with resilience under pressure.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited HQ supervision.
  • Able to operate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
