About The Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager - QA to lead and scale our quality engineering function with a strong automation-first mindset. This is a hands-on leadership role : you will architect automation frameworks, drive automation coverage across our products, and build and mentor a high-performing team of QA and SDET engineers.
As the Engineering Manager (QA), you will own the automation strategy end-to-end - from framework design and tooling decisions to CI/CD integration and release quality - while partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to ship fast without compromising quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive Traya's test automation strategy, roadmap, and coverage goals across web, mobile, and APIs.
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable, reliable automation frameworks (UI, API, and regression) - staying hands-on with code and reviews.
- Lead, hire, and mentor a team of QA/SDET engineers, fostering an automation-first, engineering-driven quality culture.
- Systematically shift testing from manual to automated - define what gets automated, measure coverage, and reduce manual regression effort release over release.
- Own end-to-end quality across Traya's digital platforms, including :
- Customer website and consultation journey
- Mobile applications
- E-commerce and checkout flows
- CRM and internal operational tools
- AI-powered customer experiences and automation workflows
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable faster, high-confidence releases.
- Establish quality gates, flakiness management, and test reliability practices so automation stays trustworthy at scale.
- Drive performance, load, and API contract testing for critical user journeys.
- Define and track quality and automation metrics (coverage, escape rate, MTTR, automation ROI) and report them to leadership.
- Drive root cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive, automated quality measures.
- Champion a shift-left approach - embed testability, test design, and automation early in the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and Business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7 - 10 years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, with a strong focus on test automation.
- 2+ years of experience leading QA/SDET teams as a manager or lead.
- Strong hands-on expertise in building automation frameworks from scratch using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Appium.
- Solid programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java.
- Strong experience in API automation (REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or similar) and service-level testing.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and defect management tools such as Jira.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools or testing of AI/LLM-powered features is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
