The Treasury team in a virtual bank plays a critical role in managing the bank's liquidity and optimizing treasury operations. The following are key responsibilities expected for this position:
Liquidity & Cash Management
- Monitor and manage the bank's liquidity positions throughout the business day to ensure sufficient funds are available for payment obligations.
- Develop and maintain short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts to support funding decisions and liquidity buffers.
- Identify and efficiently deploy excess liquidity into suitable investment vehicles or market opportunities to maximize returns within established risk parameters.
- Execute money market transactions (e.g., placements, borrowings, repo/reverse repo) efficiently and accurately, ensuring proper documentation and timely settlement.
- Actively manage the HQLA portfolio to optimize liquidity and returns within the defined risk appetite, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of money market trends, interest rates, and macroeconomic factors impacting liquidity and portfolio strategies.
Risk, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure ongoing compliance with related regulatory requirements and internal policies across all treasury and money market activities.
- Prepare and submit liquidity and treasury-related reports to regulators and internal stakeholders as required.
- Implement effective hedging and risk mitigation strategies in line with the bank's risk appetite and approved limits.
Stakeholder & Counterparty Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with other financial institutions, counterparties, and market participants to support funding and investment activities.
- Work closely with risk, finance, and operations teams to align treasury activities with overall bank strategy and risk appetite.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in treasury, liquidity management, money market dealing, or related banking/financial markets roles.
- Strong understanding of money market instruments and funding products (e.g., interbank placements/borrowings, repo), including deal lifecycle and settlement processes.
- Working knowledge of liquidity risk metrics, cash flow forecasting, and treasury controls.
- Demonstrated ability to manage counterparty relationships and coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders (risk, finance, operations).
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and ability to operate within internal policies, limits, and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure.
- Candidates with experience in balance sheet management and asset-liability management (ALM) will be strongly preferred.
