Job Description

Work Scope: The VP of Engineering Asia is directly responsible for managing all Engineering and NPI functions, ensuring they have the necessary capacity, capability, and leadership structures in place to support manufacturing. This role provides technical leadership across Engineering and NPI functions, including Product Engineering, Test Engineering, Process Engineering, Process Automation, Maintenance, Utilities, Plant and Project Engineering, and all engineering competencies required to support manufacturing and NPI activities.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership and Management

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies and processes to support manufacturing and NPI functions.
  • Ensure engineering teams are equipped with the skills, tools, and leadership required to deliver operational excellence.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance plant performance, reliability, and sustainability through process optimization and automation.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Oversee the NPI process, ensuring seamless integration of new products into manufacturing while maintaining quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align NPI objectives with business goals and customer requirements.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide oversight of process engineering, maintenance, utilities, and project execution to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support innovation in engineering and NPI functions.

Strategic Contribution

  • Actively participate in the SVI Executive Team, contributing to the strategic direction and operational planning.
  • Support organizational capability-building efforts to meet current and future business challenges.
  • Lead efforts to standardize and harmonize engineering practices across Asia sites to ensure consistency and scalability.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing engineering and NPI leadership team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Develop succession plans and talent development programs to ensure long-term organizational readiness.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the key engineering representative to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to align engineering priorities with overall business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15+ years in the electronics manufacturing industry and in a leadership role managing large-scale EMS projects.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT, PCB assembly, and quality standards like ISO 9001 and IPC-A-610.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and align engineering strategies with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, client coordination experience, and analytical abilities to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
