Job Description
Position: VP, AML Business Risk & Control Management ( Strengthen AML Assurance)
Job Summary
Strengthen the organization's AML (AntiMoney Laundering) assurance capabilities under the Business Risk & Control Management (BRCM) framework by independently assessing the design and operating effectiveness of AML controls, identifying thematic risks, and driving remediation and continuous improvement to meet regulatory and internal standards.
Assurance & Testing
- Design and execute AML control testing plans (design effectiveness, operating effectiveness, sample testing, walkthroughs).
- Perform thematic reviews (e.g., KYC/CDD, EDD, screening, onboarding, transaction monitoring, SAR/STR filing, name list management).
- Validate remediation actions and conduct postimplementation effectiveness checks.
Risk & Control Evaluation
- Assess AML residual risks and control gaps; quantify impact and likelihood where appropriate.
- Challenge firstline risk assessments and ensure accurate control mapping to AML risks.
- Maintain and enhance AML control libraries and test scripts.
Governance & Reporting
- Produce clear assurance reports with findings, rootcause analysis, and prioritized action plans.
- Track and escalate overdue actions; present outcomes to governance forums/committees.
- Support policy/procedure updates with assurance insights and lessons learned.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with First Line of Defense (BU/Operations), Compliance (Second Line), and Audit (Third Line) to align assurance scope, minimize overlaps, and close gaps.
- Provide advisory on control design for new products/process changes and regulatory changes.
Data & Analytics
- Utilize data analysis to identify control effectiveness trends, false positives/negatives, and processing risks.
- Recommend control optimization and automation opportunities (e.g., monitoring rules tuning, workflow controls).
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Build AML assurance capability through targeted training, playbooks, and communities of practice.
- Drive continuous improvement culture; establish KPIs and dashboards for AML control health.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk, Law, Data/IT, or related field; Master's a plus.
- Minimum 5 years experience in AML/Compliance/Risk Assurance/Internal Audit (financial services preferred).
- Strong knowledge of AML regulatory expectations (e.g., KYC/CDD, TM, sanctions/screening, reporting).
- Proven experience in control testing, sampling methodologies, and remediation validation.
- Analytical skills with ability to interpret large datasets and process flows.
- Strong writing and presentation skills; ability to influence stakeholders across lines of defense.
