The role of Head of Core Applications is fully responsible for managing teams with strong leadership skills driving teams productivity and efficiency as well as good technical experience delivering all aspect of the software development life cycle and oversee the delivery of software solutions for KTAXA. This includes to make sure our software engineering team align in standardized AXA methodology & architecture & framework.
Responsibilities:
- Lead engineers with a strong people skills as well as good technical leader to make sure our engineers can be able to work across business functions but also internally with the IT function.
- Deliver project on time and with effective resource solutions, frameworks and teams that demonstrate value for money whilst managing technical delivery, financial and business stakeholders.
- Continually develop our software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) capabilities to enable parallel development streams and driving changes to market quicker.
- Develop and plan system / software upgrades to keep our systems current as well as feed into the 5 year planning cycle by defining technology projects required to keep us competitive.
- Build strong, sustainable, knowledgeable, versatile and fun technical teams who are passionate about code, delivery and the products by hiring, mentoring and coaching technical staff.
- Develop our software engineer team to ensure that you can attract and retain talent within the organization.
- Develop and maintain a high performing team that improves productivity and quality.
- Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution architect to ensure the roadmaps of future technology are met with appropriate processes, skills and tools.
- Will be partner with the Product Owner / Scrum Master to ensure that the short term delivery challenges and long term technical capabilities are effectively balanced to the needs of the business, balancing technical prioritization and long term technical debt reduction with delivery plans.
- Work with the Business Relationship manager and EA for roadmaps, business cases and strategy.
- Deliver reporting to business stakeholders, IT, PMO and project sponsors and ensure you are able to tell the story behind the reporting.
- Pro-actively build relationships within the IT Group especially with your counterpart in other source markets but also with Group Architecture, Group Security and Group Service support.
- Utilize our on-shore and off shore suppliers and ensuring there is appropriate balance between in-house, contractor and supplier teams.
- Matrix manage capability of technical roles within the existing business focused delivery framework.
- Ensure that our partners are aware of KTAXA processes and are committed to delivering with the team as if they are KTAXA people.
- Through leadership team you will ensure that the teams are productive and providing high quality output.
- Lead in providing technical guidance, strategic direction and ownership and technical governance.
- Lead to ensure Software Engineer team define appropriate quality measures for all functions.
Qualifications:
- Typically require a tertiary qualification in an IT discipline or related field
- Bachelor&aposs Degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
- Proven 5-8 year experience in leading and managing development teams.
- Deep experience and knowledge of the full software delivery life cycle
- Good experience with development and delivery practices such as Agile etc.
- Experience of enterprise organisations and complex architectures.
- Experience leading, managing and coaching under-performing and high-flying staff.
- Deep technical experience of implementation, architecture and infrastructure.
- Experience, qualifications and certifications for key programming languages, ideally AS/400 and Java.
- A genuine love of technology, a desire to see how it works at a low level, with the ability to deliver business benefit.
