Position Overview
The Warehouse & Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse and the logistics fleet. The primary goal is to ensure that all goods are received, stored, and dispatched accurately while maintaining cost-effective and timely transportation to customers. This role requires a balance of operational oversight, team leadership, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse Management
- Inventory Control: Oversee inbound and outbound processes to ensure 100% accuracy in stock movement.
- Space Optimization: Manage warehouse layout to maximize storage capacity and ensure efficient material flow (FIFO/FEFO principles).
- Stock Auditing: Lead regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory checks to minimize variances and prevent loss.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and maintain cleanliness (5S) within the facility.
- Transport & Logistics Management
- Route Planning: Optimize delivery schedules and routes to ensure timely arrivals while reducing fuel consumption and operational costs.
- Fleet Maintenance: Monitor the condition of company vehicles, ensuring regular maintenance schedules and compliance with transportation laws.
- Driver Supervision: Manage a team of drivers, monitoring their performance, safety records, and professional conduct
- 3PL Management: Coordinate with third-party logistics (3PL) providers when additional capacity is required, ensuring they meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Administration & Reporting
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on key metrics such as delivery lead times, shipping errors, and transport costs.
- Problem Solving: Act as the first point of contact for operational issues, including damaged goods, delivery delays, or vehicle breakdowns.
- Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the supply chain and implement solutions to enhance productivity.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in warehouse and transport operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel) and experienced in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP (SAP/Oracle), or Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Leadership: Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and discipline staff effectively.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local transportation laws, customs regulations (if applicable), and safety standards.
