Position Summary

The Savoury Demi Chef supports the Chef de Partie and Junior Sous-Chef in preparing, cooking, and presenting savoury dishes to the highest standards. This role ensures consistency, precision, and creativity in every plate, contributing to Cova's reputation for excellence in luxury dining. The Demi Chef acts as a key link between Commis Chefs and senior kitchen leadership, developing skills while delivering refined culinary experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1.Food Preparation & Cooking

Assist in preparing and cooking savoury dishes according to Cova's recipes and standards.
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Apply European culinary techniques and seasonal ingredients.

2.Support to Chef de Partie & Junior Sous-Chef

Execute assigned tasks efficiently under supervision.
Provide support during service periods to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate effectively with FOH staff for timely service.

3.Quality Control & Standards

Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, and hygiene.
Ensure dishes meet Cova's luxury presentation and brand DNA.
Conduct checks on mise en place before service.

4.Stock Counting & Inventory Support

Assist in stock counting of savoury ingredients and supplies.
Report shortages or discrepancies to Chef de Partie.
Handle ingredients responsibly to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency.

5.Kitchen Hygiene & Safety

Follow strict hygiene protocols and safety procedures.
Ensure cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and utensils.
Support compliance with internal and external audits.

6.Team Collaboration

Work closely with other kitchen sections to ensure timely service.
Support colleagues during peak hours and contribute to teamwork culture.
Share knowledge and techniques with Commis Chefs.

7.Training & Development

Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and knowledge.
Learn advanced techniques in savoury cooking, plating, and menu development.
Demonstrate readiness for progression to Chef de Partie level.

8.Continuous Improvement

Suggest ideas for new savoury dishes or improvements to existing recipes.
Stay updated on European culinary trends to enhance menu offerings.
Contribute to innovation in plating and presentation.

Qualifications & Competencies

1–3 years of experience in savoury cooking within fine dining or luxury hospitality.
Strong knowledge of savoury techniques, sauces, and plating.
Basic knowledge of European food products and culinary standards.
Ability to work under pressure with discipline and precision.
Team-oriented, reliable, and eager to learn.
Basic knowledge of inventory and cost control.
