Job Overview
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing core accounting operations, ensuring timely financial reporting, process accuracy, and continuous improvement across finance workflows.
This role plays a critical part in managing the month-end closing process, strengthening internal controls, and driving operational efficiency within the accounting function. The position also supports cross-functional collaboration, financial transparency, and the development of scalable finance processes aligned with business growth.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of leading a team while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Take ownership of the monthly closing process and ensure timely submission of draft financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) by Week 2 of each month
- Perform initial reviews of journal entries and supporting documents prior to posting
- Identify and escalate significant variances or issues to the CFO Office for review
- Maintain and update a Gap Analysis & Roadmap to track unresolved items and ensure transparency in reporting timelines
2. On-Demand Reporting & Request Management
- Manage a centralized reporting request tracker for all ad-hoc reporting requirements from internal stakeholders
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of manual reports within 24–48 hours
- Collaborate with the CFO Office to support the development of automated reporting dashboards (e.g., Excel, Power BI)
3. Workflow Optimization & SOP Development
- Design, implement, and continuously improve standard workflows for AP, AR, general ledger cut-offs, and reconciliations
- Lead SOP workshops with Senior AP/AR and cross-functional stakeholders
- Ensure process improvements enhance efficiency without adding unnecessary complexity
4. Internal Control & Error Prevention
- Implement a structured first-pass review process for journal entries before final posting
- Maintain and analyze a monthly Error Trend Log to identify recurring issues and improve data accuracy
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
5. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead weekly team meetings to address operational challenges, share updates, and align priorities
- Identify skill gaps within the team and organize training, coaching, or peer mentoring sessions
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team
6. Finance Transparency & Stakeholder Communication
- Support the CFO Office in preparing financial summaries and executive reports (e.g., cash position, revenue vs target, variance analysis)
- Develop and maintain a Finance Playbook to standardize responses to common internal queries
- Facilitate bi-weekly Finance Office Hours to improve transparency and cross-functional collaboration
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with IT, ERP, and data teams to improve data accuracy and close reporting gaps
- Align with auditors on year-to-date schedules and support a smooth and timely audit process
- Contribute to ongoing finance transformation projects, including reconciliation improvements, automation, and dashboard development
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in fast-paced environments such as startups, SMEs, or e-commerce businesses
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reconciliation, reporting)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics AX, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Understanding of financial reporting, accounting standards, and internal controls
