Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • Strategic direction: Assist the Group SHE Managing Director and BU Directors in defining BU / regional improvement roadmaps (for respective scope) to align with Thai Union Group strategic goals
  • Best-in-class safety, health and environment: Deploy group SHE standards to all plants and offices within the region; oversee implementation, compliance and monitor progress against SHE targets at the regional level
  • People and leadership: Motivate, lead and challenge plant SHE team members to reach / exceed targets and objectives. Set positive working culture with teams across Thai Union

Responsibilities:

  • Track BU / region-wide plant and office (for respective scope) performance against critical SHE KPIs, generate key insights on persistent gaps and identify mitigating actions to deliver improvements
  • Communicate and cascade changes in Group SHE policy and standards to Plant SHE teams and ensure implementation
  • Ensure and support Plant SHE teams in implementing groupwide SHE programs and initiatives; provide technical advisory support to Plant SHE teams during implementation
  • Collaborate with Plant SHE teams to identify required certifications / licenses (e.g. ISO) for the plant; oversee and provide technical advisory to plant SHE Managers in preparing for assessments as needed
  • Monitor regulatory changes and shifts in industry best practices within the region, and consult with Group SHE Technical Leads to determine appropriate actions and responses
  • Lead and ensure the risk assessment has been done and the effectiveness of risk mitigation action are in place
  • Work through Plant SHE Managers to ensure Group SHE policy and standards implementation across the region, and adherence to respective Plant SHE improvement roadmap
  • Validate critical SHE inspection outcomes for each plant and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions (e.g., emergency response readiness inspection, air emission sampling)
  • Develop, design, and lead Regional / BU SHE internal audits and inspections across plants / offices to prevent non-compliance findings (for respective scope)
  • Guide Plant SHE teams in responses to external audit findings
  • Incident management and implementation
  • Support Plant SHE teams on escalated incidents and ensure appropriate investigation, communication and corrective action taken to prevent reoccurrence (e.g., injury, illness, chemical spills)
  • Share best practices from the Group / other plants and offices to prevent and reduce adverse impacts from poor industrial hygiene / workplace safety standards / environment controls
  • Lead the incident management e.g. prevention, Lesson learn sharing and corrective& preventive action closure in BU level
  • Collaborate with Group SHE Technical Leads to define standardized SHE skills competency requirements across the Group, by providing inputs from BU / region perspective
  • Work through Plant SHE teams to roll out SHE trainings, leveraging materials from Group SHE and providing advisory support on regional / local adaptations as required

Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in SHE standards to ensure employees safety, reduce environmental impact, and ensure compliance across all Thai Union Group sites
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to resolve priority SHE project roadblocks
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, build a diverse and trust-based leadership team, and develop local talent
  • Demonstrate ability to make hard decisions, making the right trade-offs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to drive SHE agenda through cross functional collaboration with BU / plant leadership
