About the Role
We're looking for an Engineering Manager who can combine strong technical depth with exceptional people leadership.
You'll lead a high-performing engineering team, drive technical excellence, establish scalable engineering processes, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and Leadership to build products that serve millions of customer interactions every day.
This is a hands-on leadership role—you'll be expected to mentor engineers, influence architecture, review code, and occasionally contribute to production code when required.
What You'll Own
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor and grow a team of software engineers.
- Foster a culture of ownership, speed, accountability and continuous learning.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career development discussions.
- Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on execution and quality.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
- Drive architecture decisions with a focus on scalability, performance, reliability and security.
- Review system designs and critical pull requests.
- Partner with Product to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions.
- Continuously evaluate technologies, frameworks and engineering best practices.
Delivery & Execution
- Own sprint planning, backlog prioritization and release planning.
- Establish lightweight Agile processes (Scrum/Kanban) with predictable bi-weekly releases.
- Improve engineering predictability, velocity and execution quality.
- Remove delivery bottlenecks and improve cross-functional collaboration.
Engineering Excellence
- Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Improve observability, monitoring and incident response.
- Champion engineering documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Drive code quality through reviews, testing and engineering standards.
- Lead post-incident reviews and ensure learnings translate into system improvements.
Hiring & Team Growth
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to hire exceptional engineers.
- Define interview frameworks and hiring standards.
- Build onboarding programs that help new engineers ramp up quickly.
- Scale the engineering organization while maintaining a strong engineering culture.
What We're Looking For
- 8 –12 years of software engineering experience with 3–5 years leading engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js, React, JavaScript/TypeScript and MongoDB.
- Experience building and scaling high-traffic SaaS products.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs and modern software architecture.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and build high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance engineering excellence with startup speed.
Nice to Have
- Experience building AI-powered products or integrating LLMs into production systems.
- Experience with WhatsApp Business APIs.
- Exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ or event-driven architectures.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or Datadog.
- Contributions to open-source projects, technical blogs or engineering communities.
