JOB PURPOSE
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all engineering functions within the manufacturing plant, including maintenance, process improvement, capital projects, and technical support. The role ensures plant equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in alignment with CROWN's Strategic Driver 2025 objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Engineering Operations & Maintenance
- Plan, direct, and control all engineering and maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant uptime and equipment reliability.
- Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
- Oversee spare parts inventory management and procurement of engineering materials.
- Ensure all plant equipment and utilities (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic) are maintained to operational standards.
2. Capital Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from feasibility study through commissioning and handover.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, TPM) to reduce waste, downtime, and operating costs.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance production capability and energy efficiency.
3. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable Thai laws and regulations, including the Factory Act B.E. 2535 and related ministerial regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement engineering controls to eliminate or minimize workplace hazards.
- Support ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) certification requirements.
4. People Management & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team including Supervisors, Technicians, and Engineers.
- Conduct performance appraisals and identify training and development needs for engineering staff.
- Build and sustain a high-performance, safety-conscious engineering culture.
5. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage the annual engineering budget including maintenance costs, CAPEX, and labor.
- Monitor and control engineering expenditures against approved budget; report variances with corrective actions.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support plant operational goals.
- Provide technical support and engineering solutions for production-related issues.
- Liaise with external contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering within a manufacturing environment, of which at least 35 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in food packaging, metal packaging, or FMCG manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance systems (CMMS), Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&ID diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of Thai labor law, factory regulations, and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Effective leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with ERP/HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Workday) is an advantage.
- Good command of English (reading, writing, and communication); bilingual (ThaiEnglish) preferred.
