About the Role
MGC-ASIA is looking for an experienced and highly capable Finance Controller to strengthen our Group Finance function and ensure strong financial governance across multiple companies and business units.
This is a Director-level role, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of financial information across the organization.
We are looking for someone who is exceptionally strong in accounting, combined with solid financial management and analytical capabilities.
The successful candidate will not simply report the numbers — you will understand the numbers, challenge the numbers, identify the risks behind the numbers, and translate financial information into actionable business insights for management.
Key Responsibilities1. Group Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee and review accounting operations across assigned Group companies.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing.
- Review P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and key financial accounts.
- Review account reconciliations and investigate unusual or material transactions.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with TFRS and Group accounting policies.
- Resolve complex accounting issues and provide technical accounting guidance to finance teams.
- Establish consistent accounting practices across Group companies.
2. Group Financial Control & Governance
- Strengthen financial controls, accounting policies and financial governance across the Group.
- Identify financial, accounting and operational control risks.
- Develop and monitor appropriate control procedures.
- Review key financial processes including Revenue, AR, AP, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Cash, CAPEX and Intercompany Transactions.
- Ensure proper authorization, segregation of duties and financial accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial control and reporting quality.
3. Group Consolidation
- Lead and review the consolidation of financial results across multiple legal entities.
- Review intercompany balances and transactions.
- Ensure appropriate elimination and consolidation adjustments.
- Analyze consolidated financial results and key movements.
- Ensure consistency and reliability of Group financial information.
4. Financial Planning & Business Performance
- Lead or support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze actual results versus budget, forecast and prior year.
- Identify key drivers of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses and profitability.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management and BU Heads.
- Develop meaningful financial dashboards and management reports.
- Support business units in improving profitability and financial performance.
5. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Monitor Group cash flow and liquidity.
- Review cash flow forecasts and working capital requirements.
- Monitor AR, AP, inventory and cash conversion.
- Identify opportunities to improve working capital efficiency.
- Work closely with Finance teams and business units to improve cash management.
6. Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely completion of statutory and Group financial reporting.
- Support tax compliance and monitor significant tax risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Work with internal audit / risk functions on financial control matters.
7. Finance Transformation & Digitalization
- Identify opportunities to standardize and automate finance and accounting processes.
- Improve the use of ERP, financial systems, data analytics and automation.
- Drive improvements in the quality, speed and accessibility of management reporting.
- Support the development of a more data-driven and digital Group Finance function.
8. Leadership & Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted financial partner to Group management and Business Units.
- Challenge financial assumptions and provide objective financial perspectives.
- Develop and coach finance and accounting teams.
- Establish a strong culture of accountability, accuracy, control and continuous improvement.
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
- 8–12+ years of experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Strong experience in Financial Controller, or Financial roles.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and solid understanding of financial statements.
- Proven experience in: Financial Reporting Month-End Closing Account Reconciliation
- Intercompany Transactions
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Financial Analysis
- Strong knowledge of TFRS / accounting standards and taxation.
- Experience managing or reviewing financial information across multiple companies or business units.
- Experience with ERP / financial systems.
Preferred
- Experience in listed companies / public companies.
- Experience in a multi-company or diversified business group.
- Experience in automotive, retail, distribution, leasing, financial services or other complex businesses.
- Experience with finance transformation, ERP implementation or financial automation.
- CPA / CPD or relevant professional accounting qualification is an advantage.
