The Head Failure Analysis department conducts head-level failure analysis for wafer, slider, HGSA, and drive factories, and supports customer failure investigations related to heads.
The purpose of the analysis is to determine the root cause of failures and collaborate with the relevant departments to identify opportunities for process and design improvements.
We have our own FA laboratory with multiple pieces of equipment/tools that need an engineer to maintain the equipment/tools in good condition.
. Understand failure symptoms and background to provide an analysis and method to get a high-accuracy failure analysis result
. Collaborate with the response area owner to assess and implement actions for process and design enhancement
. Initiate new techniques and methods for the failure analysis lab to have more capability and accuracy
. Keep existing FA tools in good condition
. Experience in failure analysis or root cause investigation
. Ability to work with cross‑functional teams to support problem-solving and drive corrective action
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
. High responsibility and ownership mindset
. Leadership potential with the ability to guide and support junior engineers
. Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
. Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, Physics, or Mechatronic Engineering and/ or relevant experience
. Experience in hard-disc drive, failure analysis, or root cause investigation
. Experience working in a laboratory or analysis environment, following structured methods and quality standards
. Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring on complex issues
. Good communication and interpersonal skills
. Computer literacy in MS Office (data analysis or programming skills are a plus)
