Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Based in Bangkok and qualified to practice in Thailand.
  • Acting as a senior member of the disputes team with responsibility for the day-to-day management of complex insurance and commercial disputes.
  • Leading the conduct of Thai court proceedings including developing case strategy with partners, preparing and settling pleadings, managing evidence and attending hearings and trials.
  • Advising international insurers, corporates and financial institutions on contentious matters including insurance coverage disputes, financial lines claims and other commercial litigation.
  • Managing disputes involving cross-border elements, including coordination of international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional litigation with foreign counsel.
  • Taking responsibility for the organisation and progress of matters, including supervising associates and ensuring workstreams are delivered to a high standard.
  • Preparing clear, precise and commercially focused legal advice, pleadings and correspondence in Thai and English.
  • Managing day-to-day client communications and maintaining strong working relationships with clients.
  • Supporting business development initiatives including client briefings, legal updates and participation in client and industry events.
  • Contributing to the development of junior lawyers within the team.

Candidate Profile And Experience

  • 6–8 years post qualification experience practicing law in Thailand.
  • Qualified to practice law in Thailand with strong academic credentials.
  • Significant experience in commercial litigation before Thai courts including managing procedural steps, drafting key pleadings and attending hearings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage disputes and take responsibility for case progress with limited supervision.
  • Experience assisting with complex disputes involving international parties, including arbitration or multi-jurisdictional litigation, is highly desirable.
  • Experience acting on insurance disputes or advising insurers is preferred but not essential.
  • Prior experience in a reputable Thai or international law firm is preferred.
  • Thai language fluency is required. Strong written and spoken English sufficient to work with international clients and colleagues is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical ability, sound judgment and the confidence to lead workstreams and supervise junior lawyers.
  • Clear and precise drafting ability in Thai with the capacity to contribute to English language workstreams.
  • Professional, proactive and capable of operating at a senior level within a high performing disputes practice.
