Job Description

Job Title: Assitant Purchasing Manager

Location: Jigani, Bangalore

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Technical Head

Job Type: Full Time

Experience: 10-12years in SPM or Automation Design

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Assistant Manager-Purchase. To manage the end-to-end procurement of materials, components, and services required for engineering and manufacturing operations, ensuring timely availability, competitive pricing, quality, and compliance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and domestic and global purchase activities based on material requirements, production schedules, and project priorities.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for engineering components, raw materials, electrical items, and other procurement requirements.
  • Obtain quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with approved requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, Finance, and other departments to ensure timely material availability.
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, quality issues, and pending purchase orders.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships and identify alternative sources to reduce procurement risks.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives through price negotiation, supplier development, and value analysis.
  • Ensure procurement documentation, approvals, and records are maintained accurately.
  • Assist in resolving material shortages, purchase-related discrepancies, and supplier payment or invoice issues.
  • Prepare procurement reports, including purchase status, pending orders, savings, and supplier performance.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and applicable statutory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in purchase / procurement, preferably in SPM, automation, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Good knowledge of engineering materials, components, and supplier management.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP / procurement software.

Preferred Experience

  • Diploma/bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 10-12 years of experience in vendor development, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering company.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and quality systems (e.g., ISO, IATF, Six Sigma).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data analysis tools.

Soft Skills:

·      Knowledge of local and international supplier bases.

·      Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

·      Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in vendor sourcing, development relevant to SPM's is a must with international standards quality knowledge.
