Job Description
Commissioning Engineer (Electrical)
Key Responsibilities
Review design drawings, specifications, Basis of Design (BOD), Owner Project Requirements (OPR), method statements, commissioning plans,and test documentation.Conduct commissionability reviews from concept/design through construction and project handover.
Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, test strategies, scripts, and test sheets.
Prepare and review Level 2 to Level 5 commissioning scripts.
Lead electrical commissioning and witnessing activities across data center projects.Commission and validateMV/LV electrical infrastructure, including: oMV/LV switchgearoUPS systemsoGeneratorsoProtection systemsoPower distribution systemsoElectrical automation and associated controls
Lead and participate inIntegrated Systems Testing (IST)and failure scenario testing.
Verify system functionality, performance, capacity, efficiency, redundancy, and operational readiness.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Support electrical and ELV testing, TCCF activities, authority inspections, and final acceptance.
Review and validate testing records, deficiencies, punch lists, and commissioning documentation.
Ensure complete and accurate documentation closeout and handover to operations teams and end users.
Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support throughout commissioning activities
.Requirements
Bachelor's Degree inElectrical Engineeringor a related discipline.
Minimum10 years of experiencein electrical engineering, construction, commissioning, or project delivery.
Minimum6 years of direct data center commissioning experience
.Strong understanding of mission-critical electrical infrastructure and data center operational requirements
.Proven experience with:oMV/LV power distributionoUPS systemsoGeneratorsoSwitchgearoProtection systemsoElectrical automation
Proven experience conducting or reviewingshort-circuit and protection coordination studiesfor MV and LV systems.Strong knowledge of applicableNETA, IEC, IEEE, and local electrical standards.Demonstrated experience developing and executing commissioning procedures and L2–L5 testing.Experience withIntegrated Systems Testing (IST)and failure-modetesting.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.Ability to lead commissioning activities involving multiple contractors, vendors, consultants, and client teams.Preferred QualificationsUptime Institute ATDcertification.CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional)certification.CDCS (Certified Data Centre Specialist)certification.Experience with large-scalehyperscale or colocation data centers.Experience working with international EPC contractors, consultants, or commissioning agents.Previous experience leading commissioning engineers, technicians, contractors, and specialist vendors.Experience with data center EPMS/BMS interfaces and mission-critical control systems.
