Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical) – Data Center

Location- Thailand & Bangkok

Key Responsibilities

• Review design drawings, specifications, Basis of Design (BOD), Owner Project Requirements (OPR), method statements, commissioning plans, and test documentation.
• Conduct commissionability reviews from concept/design through construction and project handover.
• Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, testing strategies, scripts, and test sheets.
• Prepare and review Level 2 to Level 5 commissioning scripts.
• Lead mechanical commissioning and witnessing activities across data center projects.
• Commission and validate mission-critical cooling and mechanical infrastructure, including:
• Chilled water systems
• CRAH/CRAC units
• HVAC systems
• Cooling towers
• Pumps and hydronic systems
• Mechanical controls and automation
• BMS interfaces
• Lead functional performance testing (FPT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and failure scenario testing.
• Verify system functionality, performance, capacity, efficiency, redundancy, resilience, and operational readiness.
• Validate mechanical system operation under normal, abnormal, and failure conditions.
• Verify successful integration between mechanical systems, electrical infrastructure, controls, BMS, and automation systems.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project milestones.
• Support mechanical system testing, TCCF activities, authority inspections, and final acceptance.
• Review testing records, identify deficiencies, and drive resolution through to closeout.
• Ensure commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for operational handover.
• Lead the transition of commissioned systems to operations teams and end users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, construction, commissioning, or project delivery.
• Minimum 6 years of direct data center commissioning experience.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical mechanical infrastructure and data center cooling systems.
• Proven experience with:
• Chilled water systems
• CRAH/CRAC units
• HVAC systems
• Cooling towers
• Pumps and hydronic systems
• BMS
• Mechanical automation and controls
• Demonstrated experience conducting functional performance testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Experience with commissioning procedures, L2–L5 testing, failure-mode testing, and operational readiness.
• Good knowledge of applicable ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, and TIA-942 standards and requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead commissioning activities involving multiple contractors, vendors, consultants, and client teams.
