Summary

As a Node.js Backend Developer, you will design, develop, and support scalable backend applications for OTT and digital media platforms. The role focuses on API development, AWS integration, production support, and delivering reliable solutions using Node.js, TypeScript, and cloud-native technologies.

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform independently as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Node.js backend development.

Design, develop, and enhance backend and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) services using Node.js and TypeScript.

Build RESTful and Graph QL APIs supporting catalog management, metadata, entitlement, playback authorization, and device registration.

Develop API aggregation and response transformation layers for Web, Mobile, Smart TV, and Set-Top Box platforms.

Integrate applications with AWS services including AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon API Gateway, and Amazon ECS.

Write maintainable JavaScript and TypeScript code following development standards.

Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and regression tests.

Participate in code reviews, CI/CD processes, and release activities.

Analyze production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve performance issues.

Troubleshoot Node.js runtime issues, including memory leaks, event loop latency, connection pool exhaustion, and timeout-related issues.

Collaborate with development, operations, architecture, and business teams.

Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement activities.

Participate in on-call and production support activities.

Professional & Technical Skills

Must-Have Skills

Strong experience in Node.js and TypeScript development.

Experience building RESTful and Graph QL APIs.

Hands-on experience with Express.js, Factify, or Nest JS.

Experience with AWS services including AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon API Gateway, and Amazon ECS.

Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, Promises, Async/Await, Streams, Event Emitter, and error handling.

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, and Super test.

Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.

Experience monitoring applications using Amazon CloudWatch or similar tools.

Experience supporting production applications and troubleshooting incidents.

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience in OTT, Streaming, Broadcast, or Digital Media platforms.

Knowledge of HLS, DASH, DRM technologies including Wide vine, PlayReady, and Fair Play.

Understanding of Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI).

Experience with Apollo Graph QL Server and schema design.

Knowledge of Node.js Streams and backpressure handling.

Exposure to AWS Media Services including Media Convert, Media Package, Media Tailor, Event Bridge, Kinesis, and Step Functions.

Experience with Terraform, AWS Cloud Development Kit (AWS CDK), or AWS CloudFormation.

Basic knowledge of Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Redis, Amazon Elasti Cache, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Datadog, and Open Telemetry.

Exposure to ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.

Additional Information

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Node.js backend development.

Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Experience With Cloud-native Application Development Is Preferred.

Minimum 15 years of full-time education required.
