Summary

The Director, Customer Focused Team (CFT) is a pivotal, senior leadership role with complete executive responsibility for the execution of a large, complex customer's business within a Celestica site. This Director owns the entire operational footprint and is accountable for financial performance and cost budgets. Leading all direct and indirect functions (including Program Management, SCM, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing), this role drives continuous improvement, enhances customer loyalty, and delivers world-class value. The Director reports directly to the Site General Manager and independently represents Celestica at the senior executive level of the customer organization.

Detailed Description

Strategic Leadership and Direction:

  • Develops new strategies, policies, practices, methods, programs, or techniques to analyze and interpret difficult problems or situations, establishing a new strategic direction that is site or multi-site-specific.
  • Participates with other senior managers in establishing strategic plans and objectives for the site and the organization.
  • Has overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing, and maintaining costs, methods, and employees in a major functional area.
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate managers and employees performing highly specialized roles across the functional area.

Customer Focused Team (CFT) Execution:

  • Leads a very large or complex CFT through a team of managers, having total business responsibility for the execution of the customer's or group of customers business.
  • The CFT structure includes extensive manufacturing operations alongside critical support functions (Program Management, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Engineering, and Quality) reporting directly to this role.
  • Ensures the CFT delivers world-class value by leading the creation and implementation of action plans that comprehensively resolve complex customer issues.
  • Leads initiatives with the customer, site, and Global Customer Unit (GCU) to implement Lean principles throughout the extended supply chain between vendors, Celestica, and the customer.

Financial and Performance Accountability:

  • Responsible for the total financial performance of the business. Ensures that all financial metrics (Pricing, service billing, Return on Invested Capital (ROIC), Accounts Receivable (A/R), etc.) are managed within contract requirements.
  • Monitors and controls CFT performance by establishing overall direction, priorities, and policies; evaluates results using Management Operating Review (MOR) and other appropriate metrics.
  • Works strategically with Sales/Business Development/GCU to identify and win new business opportunities, using innovative solutions to drive organic growth.

People and Talent Management:

  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through subordinate department managers.
  • Makes final decisions on administrative and operational matters in the area of responsibility.
  • Selects employees, assigns objectives, reviews performance, and approves employee compensation. Coaches for improved performance, mentors staff, and approves disciplinary actions to optimize CFT performance.
  • Accountable for driving employee satisfaction improvement within the CFT.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Comprehensive Business Acumen: In-depth knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how operational decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, inventory, on-time delivery, and the financial performance of the unit.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: In–depth knowledge of the production processes, tools, and equipment used in electronics manufacturing.
  • Strategic Project Management: Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources (Project Management methodology) to meet production, quality, operational, supply chain, and financial targets.
  • Leadership and Influence: Highly developed skills in Personal Attributes, Interpersonal, Business Technical, and Leadership Competencies. Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers, requiring influencing and persuading other senior-level managers.
  • Change Management: Extensive experience in World Class Manufacturing/Lean and Six Sigma implementation.
  • Communication & Presentation: Very strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Dynamic Leadership: Ability to independently and effectively lead, manage, mentor, train, and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve challenging targets within tight deadlines and in a highly dynamic operating environment.
  • Strategic Influence: Ability to contribute to the strategic development of Celestica's relationship with key customers.

Experience

  • 11 to 14 years relevant experience.
  • Must include at least two years in program management and two years in an operational domain such as operations, engineering, supply chain, or finance.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume manufacturing, electronics, or complex system integration environment is required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.
