The Role
We are seeking a highly accomplished Design Director Interior Design to lead the creative vision, design quality, and studio performance of the Bangkok office.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all interior design output, mentoring and growing the design team, managing senior client relationships, and contributing to the studio's commercial success across Thailand and the wider Southeast Asia region.
The successful candidate will combine exceptional design talent with strong leadership capability and commercial awareness, with the ability to deliver complex, high-end projects from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Leadership
- Define and uphold the creative vision and design standards across all projects.
- Lead projects from concept design through detailed development and site execution.
- Ensure alignment with client briefs, brand requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Present design concepts confidently to senior stakeholders and operators.
- Balance global design principles with local cultural and contextual sensitivity.
Project Oversight
- Oversee multiple projects across hospitality, residential, retail, and mixed-use sectors.
- Provide strategic direction at feasibility, concept, and schematic stages.
- Review design documentation, drawings, and material selections for quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with architecture, lighting, FF&E, and project delivery teams.
Client & Market Engagement
- Serve as senior design lead for key client relationships.
- Support business development initiatives including pitches and proposals.
- Contribute to regional market positioning and growth strategy.
Team & Studio Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing interior design team.
- Implement quality control measures and structured design processes.
- Support recruitment, succession planning, and talent development.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable studio culture.
Commercial Contribution
- Support revenue growth and profitability targets for the Bangkok studio.
- Monitor resourcing, efficiency, and design performance metrics.
- Contribute to strategic planning and long-term studio growth.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 1218+ years of experience in high-end interior design.
- Prior experience in a Design Director, Associate Director, or Senior Associate capacity.
- Strong portfolio of luxury hospitality, branded residential, or mixed-use projects.
- Experience working with international hotel operators preferred.
- Southeast Asia experience advantageous.
