Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY:
To drive the organization's Preventive fraud defense by leveraging data analytics to develop proactive strategies, monitor real-time threats, and implement controls to mitigate fraud before it occurs.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Fraud Strategy & Policy
- Strategy Formulation: Define and implement the Fraud Risk Management Framework and long-term fraud strategies.
- KPI Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Fraud Loss Rates, False Positive Ratios, and Detection Rates.
- Control Design: Determine fraud rules and thresholds (e.g., transaction limits, velocity controls) based on the current threat landscape.
2. Fraud Data Analytics
- Predictive Modeling: Analyze historical fraud data to identify patterns and develop predictive models for early detection.
- Methodology Development: Develop and maintain fraud risk management methodologies, scoring models, and analytical tools.
- Gap Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis on successful fraud attacks to identify vulnerabilities in the current defense layers.
3. Real-time Monitoring & Prevention
- Alert Monitoring: Oversee the 24/7 fraud monitoring system to identify and respond to suspicious transaction patterns.
- Immediate Containment: Execute real-time actions, such as Freezing Accounts, blocking suspicious cards, or restricting access sessions based on system-generated alerts.
- Rule Optimization: Regularly tune and refine monitoring rules to reduce False Positives while maintaining high detection accuracy.
4. Governance & Reporting
- Fraud Reporting: Prepare strategic reports for senior management on fraud trends, loss performance, and the effectiveness of preventive controls.
- Framework Maintenance: Ensure all fraud tools and processes comply with the latest regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
- Typically 7+ years of experience in fraud prevention, with a heavy focus on data analytics within a digital banking or high-volume FinTech environment.
- Strong command of fraud detection systems (e.g., Feedzai, FeatureSpace, or similar) and data analysis tools (SQL, Python, or R).
- Proven ability to translate complex data sets into actionable fraud prevention strategies and rule sets.
- Ability to make high-pressure decisions regarding real-time threat containment and account restrictions.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) are highly preferred.
- Experience managing a team of analysts and working in an agile environment to deploy rule changes rapidly in response to new threats.
