Role Description The Freelance Community Lead for Alkia's open source project is a part-time, remote role focused on building, nurturing, and coordinating an engaged contributor community. Day-to-day responsibilities include welcoming new members, moderating discussions across community channels, and ensuring clear, consistent communication about project goals, updates, and contribution opportunities. The Community Lead will organize virtual events such as office hours or community calls, gather feedback from contributors, and collaborate with project maintainers to improve documentation and onboarding workflows. The role also involves responding to community inquiries, promoting inclusive participation, and tracking engagement metrics to help guide community strategy and growth.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess strong Community Engagement and Community Management skills to grow, support, and coordinate an active open source contributor base.
Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to facilitate conversations, resolve conflicts, and represent the project in a professional and inclusive manner.
Candidates should possess proven Customer Service abilities to respond to questions, provide guidance, and create positive experiences for contributors and users.
Experience working with or contributing to open source projects, including familiarity with platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.
Ability to manage online communities across channels such as forums, chat platforms, and social media.
Strong organizational skills and capacity to work independently in a remote, part-time freelance setting.
