We are seeking to expand our AI Innovation and Center of Excellence Team and are looking for: Gen AI Engineering Team Lead

What We Need:

We are seeking a Gen AI Engineering Team Lead to shape, accelerate, and lead our AI-driven future. This role sits at the heart of the AI Center of Excellence — the nucleus of the Group's shift to AI — within a startup and execution-focused environment. You will lead a team of AI Engineers while remaining deeply hands-on, setting the technical direction for AI, Agentic systems, and the data platforms driving both, to reinvent Siam Piwat Group and our Shopping Centers.

You will be a player-coach: a technical leader who architects and ships cutting-edge AI solutions on solid data engineering foundations while growing a high-performing engineering team. From AI applications, Analytics, Targeting, and Ad generation to operational improvements, you will own the delivery of AI innovation into measurable business outcomes.

What You'll Do:

Lead & Grow the Team: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of AI Engineers — owning hiring, performance, technical coaching, and career growth while fostering a culture of experimentation and engineering excellence.
Own the Technical Direction: Define the AI engineering roadmap, architecture standards, and best practices for LLM, Agentic, and data platform systems across the Center of Excellence, and drive alignment with the Group's broader AI strategy.
Build & Apply AI Solutions: Lead the exploration, prototyping, and implementation of AI (LLM) solutions using Google Vertex AI (Gemini) and leading open-source AI frameworks tailored to real business use cases.
Engineer Self-Improving Agentic Systems: Architect autonomous, self-improving Agentic AI workflows using modern SDKs and frameworks, incorporating architectural guardrails and feedback loops to ensure safety, reliability, and continuous learning in production.
Build AI-powered Data Platforms: Own the architecture and evolution of the AI-powered data and marketing platform — designing scalable data pipelines, integrating behavioral data from multiple sources (e.g., Snowplow), managing data warehouses on BigQuery, and establishing best practices for data modeling, quality, governance, and observability.
Engineer for Production: Set and enforce the bar for robust AI, Agentic, and Data solutions in Python, Java, or similar languages — with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, maintainability, and code quality across the team.
Translate Business to Technology: Partner closely with Product Owners and senior stakeholders to convert complex business challenges into effective AI-powered technical solutions, and represent the AI engineering team in cross-functional and leadership forums.
Advance AI Innovation: Continuously research emerging AI, ML, and Agentic technologies, assess their potential value, and drive adoption across the team where it creates competitive advantage.

Your Qualifications:

Proven Leadership: 2+ years leading or mentoring engineering teams (formally or as a tech lead), with a track record of delivering AI/ML products to production and growing engineers around you.
Strong Engineering Foundation: 6+ years of programming experience in Python, Java, or similar languages, with strong proficiency in SQL.
AI & ML Expertise: A strong background in traditional AI and machine learning, with hands-on experience in Generative AI frameworks and libraries, demonstrated by building and operating production-grade AI systems in real-world business environments.
Agentic Frameworks & Architecture: Proven expertise in building self-improving Agentic AI systems using frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI), with a strong grasp of architectural guardrails and safety layers for complex enterprise tasks.
Data Engineering Platform Expertise: Deep hands-on experience designing and operating data platforms at scale — data pipelines (batch and streaming), data warehousing (BigQuery strongly preferred), event/behavioral data ingestion, and ELT/ETL tooling — with a strong command of data engineering best practices: data modeling, pipeline orchestration, data quality testing, lineage, and cost optimization.
Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
Delivery Ownership: Experience planning and running engineering delivery — sprint/roadmap planning, prioritization, estimation, and stakeholder management in fast-moving environments.
Problem Solver: Proven ability to break down complex business problems and design practical, scalable technical solutions.
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate ideas, trade-offs, and technical strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, up to executive level.

Nice to Have:

Experience with orchestration and transformation tooling such as Airflow, Dagster, or dbt
Experience with containerization tools such as Docker
Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform
Experience establishing AI governance, evaluation frameworks, or MLOps/LLMOps practices
